Peter Vardy leaves Rossleigh Jaguar Edinburgh as General Manager and Sir Peter Vardy steps down as CEO of Reg Vardy plc following the Group's acquisition be Pendragon for £506m.
The Vardy Group is launched from Durham. Sir Peter Vardy establishes Vardy Venture Capital and his son Richard launches the Vardy Property Group. Peter Vardy develops Peter Vardy Ltd, the most exciting new name to enter motor retailing in many years. Peter is joined by Jamie Crowther (Managing Director), Gary Dreghorn (Finance Director) and Carly Smith (Marketing Manager).
Peter Vardy Ltd is launched officially with the acquisition of Perth Vauxhall. Martin Dale joins as IT Manager to develop infrastructure and IT strategy for the group.
HR manager Anita Douglas and franchise development manager, Craig Macfarlane are appointed. Peter Vardy Ltd forms key partnerships with Kerridge and British Car Auctions as key partners to support the growth plan.
The Accelerator Programme, a scheme developed to attract the most talented people towards the motor industry by creating links between performance and ambition with rewards, is launched. The programme is the first in the motor industry to place equal value on employees' performance with their desire to learn and behaviour, and to reward with a range of benefits.
The company website is launched. It highlights exclusive offers on new Vauxhalls, A used car search tool and allows for online booking of servicing and MOT tests. The site is also home to the company's job board and details of the unique franchising model.
The first community sponsorship is announced, revealing a plan to support the Young Carers including the group PKAVS (Perth & Kinross Association of Voluntary Services) which provide support and services to young carers. During 2007 the dealership would help by taking these young carers out quarterly, sponsoring annual open days and also providing free servicing and maintenance to its vehicles.
Peter Vardy Ltd announces up to 60 new jobs in Kirkcaldy after buying land to build a new Vauxhall dealership. Peter Vardy says, Kirkcaldy has immense potential since it is the main motor retail centre of the area and is already a destination for customers. The company aimed to complete work on the site and open by the summer of 2007.
Innovative plans to allow talented general managers to become owners of their dealerships and to share in the success they create are unveiled. The unique opportunity to become a Peter Vardy Managing Partner will see general managers with a proven track record investing in their own dealership and enjoying the financial rewards of the business they build. Mark Berwick, branch manager at Perth Vauxhall who started his career as a mechanic, becomes the first Managing Partner, saying it represents a fantastic opportunity.
Peter Vardy Vauxhall secures the number one position after just seven months of operations. Vauxhall UK retail sales director Andy Dunston describes the Perth team's success as a "fantastic achievement".
Peter Vardy makes it's second acquisition of the Vauxhall Motherwell dealership. It is revealed that the company will build a flagship dealership at Airbles Road within the year. The acquisition marks the return to Motherwell for the Vardy family of which Lady Margaret Vardy call home. It also sees the launch of a new division of Peter Vardy Ltd, The brand 'Peter's Car Company' is launched to reflect the vibrancy and fun of the business.
Peter Vardy acquires its first specialist dealership. The former Dunedin BMW site in Edinburgh is the first presence in the Scottish capital. Peter Vardy plans to develop the site further to include a dedicated MINI showroom which would make the site the largest BMW & MINI dealership in Scotland.
The Kirkcaldy Vauxhall site is opened. It is a purpose built dealership that establishes the Peter Vardy name in Fife to run alongside the extremely successful dealership in Perth.
Peter Vardy backs a new charity that aids severely underprivileged women and children across Cambodia. The Hagar Foundation provides opportunities for recovery and pursue reintegration through psychological, social and emotional support to these women and children. Peter Vardy Ltd vows to raise the capital to fund 1,000 water filters for the Hagar Foundation to supply.
The Peter Vardy workforce is committed to achieving this goal and along with the support of our customers and suppliers we will improve the opportunities of the women and children in Cambodia.
Over £30,000 was raised for The Hagar Foundation through staff, customers and suppliers.
PeterVardy.com Version 2.0 goes live. After two years of growth, the company is now able to offer the ultimate in customer experience on the latest version of the site. The site offers information on all the company's brands including Vauxhall, BMW & MINI as well as a wide range of used vehicles.
13 members of staff traveled to Cambodia to see the effect of the money raised by Peter Vardy. Last year nearly £35,000 was collected through fund-raising events and donations. The money raised is helping to pay for water filters to help eradicate disease, especially among children in 1,400 families.
“I spoke to a mother-of-eight who said at least two of her children had diarrhoea every month because of filthy water. Since she’s had a water filter the problem has stopped. It’s really made a difference.” Euan, a colleague on the trip.
The money will also support the charity’s work with abused women and orphaned children.

The Peter Vardy Annual Ball saw the coming together of suppliers, partners, friends and colleagues for a night to recognise and celebrate both individual and group successes. The event is held yearly and sees all departments and branches of the group to mark everyone's efforts for the year. It was held this year at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh. The highlight of the event was the award ceremony which recognises the efforts of colleagues and branches within the organisation who are outstanding in their field. Recognition is one of the core values of Peter Vardy and these awards represent a critical part.

The ball was a fantastic success for all concerned not just those fortunate enough to win awards.
Peter Vardy opens a new preparation centre in Livingston allowing for more efficient processes that passes savings directly onto the customers. The facility and team mean that all cars will receive the highest level of preparation as they pass through the 114 point Peter Vardy check.
Peter Vardy Vauxhall has clinched the top two places at the carmaker's Chairman's Circle league which ranks more than 400 dealerships in the UK. The group was also able to announce a 35% Year on Year increase in sales. Peter Vardy's Perth operation also made 6th place.
These rankings are covering the first half of 2009 and are awarded on overall performance based on several criteria including customer satisfaction, retail sales and parts sales. The judging also includes a mystery shop to grade a dealership's sales and aftersales performance.
"The Vauxhall franchises have seen remarkable sales growth this year and our BMW and MINI dealerships have also performed extremely well despite some of the challenges that the industry is facing" Peter Vardy.
The Peter Vardy Foundation is launched September 2009. The company pledged to donate 10% of profits to the foundation.

Vauxhall acquisition from the John Martin Group in Aberdeen and Edinburgh see Peter Vardy grow again as well as opening the doors to representing Chevrolet.
Peter Vardy now operates with 5 Vauxhall Dealership across Scotland. The group, which was launched in 2006, now operates a total of 9 dealerships. "Not only are we venturing into a new area in Scotland with the Aberdeen dealership, we are also expanding in the capital," said chief executive Peter Vardy. "A great deal of time and effort has gone into securing Aberdeen and Edinburgh Vauxhall; we are committed to the brand and the teams that represent it. The current success of these two dealerships and the respectful relationship we have built with John Martin over the years, made it the perfect fit," he said.
Peter Vardy launches the Rookie Sales Academy. We believe it is important to support and develop our colleagues to reach their absolute potential. That is exactly what the Rookie Academy strives to deliver. This programme utilised an open day for candidate selection where people new to the automotive industry were welcomed to show their drive and passion. We used our knowledge and experience to select the brightest and best 11 candidates from the group that applied.
These candidates join as 'Sales Rookies' for a 12 week programme with the aim to give them everything they need to become successful sales advisors within an award winning company.
The 'Rookie' programme is a mixture of classroom training at head office and 'hands on' sales activities at designated dealership as well as more surprising days that remain a secret for now. We aim to work closely with the candidates to generate knowledge and confidence so that they can learn exactly what is needed to make delighted customers who come back time and time again.
Every Rookie will have a dedicated coach throughout the process who will continue to mentor the Rookie when they progress past Rookie status.
