Vauxhall Ampera

Coming Soon to Peter Vardy Edinburgh…

At Peter Vardy the launch of every new car gets us excited, but the launch of the Ampera has taken our excitement to new levels. The revolutionary Vauxhall Ampera will be the first emission-free, electrically driven car in Europe suitable for everyday use. With its Voltec electric propulsion system providing lively acceleration and high levels of refinement, the five-door Ampera seats four passengers in comfort, offers a useful boot space  for  luggage, and features an extended range of more than 350 miles.

Brand new Amperia at Peter Vardy Vauxhall

Electricity drives the Ampera’s wheels at all times and speeds. For trips up to 50 miles, power is supplied by the electricity stored in the cutting-edge, 16-kWh, lithium-ion battery. While driving on electricity delivered by the battery, the Ampera emits zero CO2 at the tailpipe. When the battery’s energy is depleted to a minimum state of charge, a petrol/E85-fueled engine generator seamlessly provides electricity to power the electric drive unit while simultaneously sustaining the charge of the battery. This mode of operation extends the range for a further 310 miles, until the battery can be charged by plugging into a standard household 240-volt outlet.

Charging the New Vauxhall Ampera

The Ampera will provide potential zero-emission transportation for the majority of UK drivers.  For example, approximately 80 percent of European drivers travel less than 35 miles daily.

The Ampera can be plugged into any household 240-volt outlet for charging. Vauxhall is analysing the requirements of a recharging infrastructure for plug-in electric cars with selected energy companies.

A glimpse inside the New Ampera

Vauxhall estimates that an electrically driven mile in the Ampera will be about one-fifth of the cost of a conventional petrol-powered vehicle.

More than 200 lithium-ion cells in the T-shaped pack provide ample power. The nearly silent electric drive unit delivers 370 Nm of instant torque, the equivalent of 150 PS, 0 to 62mph acceleration of around nine seconds, and a top speed of 100mph.
