What is the Rookie Academy?
It’s a pretty common practice in a sales environment to throw people in at the deep end and see what happens. At Peter Vardy, we believe in supporting and developing our colleagues to be the best that they can be, so that kind of approach doesn’t really work for us. In fact, we think lots of people have decided (or been told) that they aren’t right for sales, when really the company they went to work for just didn’t give them the support and training they needed to become a great success.
That’s where our Rookie Academy comes in. This year we’re inviting people who are new to the automotive industry, or new to the sales environment to come along and show us their drive and passion to succeed and their natural rapport with people from all walks of life. We’ll use our knowledge and expertise to identify the people we believe are most likely to succeed and if you fall within that category, we’ll invite you to be part of our Rookie Academy.
For the next 8 weeks, you’ll join our other ‘Sales Rookies’ for a full programme where we’ll focus on giving you everything you need to become a highly successful sales advisor in our award winning organisation.
The programme will be a mixture of classroom training at our head office and ‘hands on’ activities at your designated dealership (as well as a few more unusual days that we’ll keep a surprise for now). We’ll work closely with you to build your confidence and knowledge and make sure you know exactly what it takes to create delighted customers who always come back to us.
On top of all this, you’ll have a dedicated trainer and mentor throughout the entire programme who will continue to support you once you’re out in the job for real.
So, here’s the thing. We know what it takes to deliver a fantastic customer experience. We might be young, but we’ve got some serious experience in the industry and we’ve spent years researching the best practices from all over the world. We need great people with great attitudes to come and join us on the next phase in our journey. It’s going to be hard work, great fun and we’re going to keep getting better and better. That’s why you’ll love it so much.....listen to Aberdeen's Stephanie Malcolm who graduated from the Rookie Academy this year:
"I think it's fantastic that the company is starting the Rookie Academy again. It's incredible how much the intense and exciting months of training has helped me get to grips with the motor trade so quickly & being able to tackle it using 'The Peter Vardy Sales Process' is the icing on the cake. The Rookie Academy breaks down every step of the motor trade for up and coming salespersons using clever techniques & group tasks which I still use to this day."
"After your weeks of training at PVL's HQ, you will get a chance to pair up with one of the top sales guys at your dealership to witness 'The Peter Vardy Process' being used with a series of customers visiting the show room. I found all the staff at my dealership very welcoming & helpful which really spurred me on to ask more questions, find out more techniques & get in front of the customers to put the 'PVL sales process' to the test!"
How to Apply
Well does what you see sound good? Sound like a journey you are ready to begin?
Couple of questions to think about before applying:
- Do I have passion and a determination to succeed?
- Do I want to provide an exceptional experience every day?
- Do I want to get better every day and be the best at what I do?
- Do I want to work hard and get a great package and rewards in return?
- Do I have a natural excitement and buzz about working in a sales or customer service environment?
- Do I want to be a really important part of a successful team?
If so then what we are looking for is an application form and an up to date CV. The covering letter will form the basis of whether you will start your journey in Peter Vardy so careful thought is needed in this. Tell us about why you are the right person and what this would mean to you and maybe even impress us with some knowledge that you have on us as a company. If your application is great but your covering letter is terrible then we may not even get to your application form so just remember you only have one chance to make a first impression! Please keep this to an A4 page if possible.
