Peter Vardy Charity Trip to Cambodia
Villagers in a remote part of Cambodia are looking forward to a healthy future thanks to a partnership with Peter Vardy Ltd which has brought them clean water.
Donations made by customers and colleagues at dealerships are literally saving lives after the company linked up with the charity Hagar.
Last year nearly £35,000 was collected through fund-raising events and donations. The money raised is helping to pay for water filters to help eradicate disease, especially among children, in 1,400 families.
A team of Peter Vardy colleagues travelled to Cambodia to see the charity’s work in action, and to meet villagers who are benefiting from the fund-raising.
Euan Cameron, one of those who made the trip, said: “I spoke to a mother-of-eight who said at least two of her children had diarrhoea every month because of filthy water. Since she’s had a water filter the problem has stopped. It’s really made a difference.”
The money collected by Peter Vardy Ltd will also support the charity’s work with abused women and orphaned children.
Fund-raising will continue throughout 2009. Look out for events at Edinburgh BMW and MINI – customer support and donations will be greatly appreciated
