Company Star Awards
The stars of Scotland's newest motor dealer group have been recognised for their contribution to the company's success.
Nearly 300 colleagues of Peter Vardy Ltd, their partners and guests came together for the company's first annual ball and Chairman's Awards, held at Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh.
Chief executive Peter Vardy announced the award winners and the presentations were made by chairman Sir Peter Vardy.
Company star of the year was Tony Stevenson, used car sales manager at Motherwell Vauxhall.
Peter Vardy said the award recognised the person who had made the biggest single contribution after the judges had looked at job roles across the company.
He added: "Tony's leadership, passion and sense of fun are exactly in line with the culture we are trying to create at Peter Vardy. He continues to lead by example and breaks all the records."
Tony, 39, who comes from Coatbridge, near Glasgow, joined the dealership eight months ago from Evans Halshaw. He has previously worked at Reg Vardy Ford and Vauxhall dealerships in Coatbridge and Falkirk.
He said: "Motherwell is a fantastic place to work. It's really buzzing and the customers feel that when they come here. Our success so far is down to a phenomenal effort by the whole team working together."
Tony's dealership, Peter's Vauxhall, also won dealership of the year having retained its new car market area lead since Peter Vardy took over the site 12 months ago, while Motherwell technician Stephen Bruin won the aftersales person of the year award.
Sales person of the year was Mark Gunn of Kirkcaldy Vauxhall while Chris Glynn of the Peter Vardy Business Development Centre won support person of the year.
Sir Peter Vardy said: "I am very proud of you all that in such a short space of time you have created something of great value. It's wonderful for me to visit the dealerships and see the sense of passion, enjoyment and professionalism with which you have started this new business."
Peter Vardy Ltd was launched in June 2006 with the acquisition of Perth Vauxhall followed by Motherwell Vauxhall last March. The company built a new Vauxhall operation at Kirkcaldy and acquired Edinburgh BMW and MINI last summer.
Peter added: "The company is growing really fast and we're always looking for fantastic people to join us who match the exceptional effort being put in by our award-winners and their colleagues. We are getting a lot of enquiries via our website, petervardy.com, and we hope some of our new recruits will be the stars of the future."
