Peter Vardy Ltd voted 15th best company to work for

For the third year running Peter Vardy Ltd has been named among the top 100 companies to work for in the UK by the prestigious Sunday Times 'Best Companies to Work For' survey.

The Scottish-based motor retailer has moved up seven places since last year, rising to 15th from 22nd.

The result is a boost to the fast-growing group, which started just five years ago and now employs over 500 people at seven dealerships across Scotland.

Driven by Chief Executive Peter Vardy, the company focuses heavily on customer and colleague engagement in its day to day business. From the outset the firm committed to giving away 10 per cent of its annual profits to worthwhile causes in the communities where it operates across Scotland, and also special projects abroad, through the Peter Vardy Foundation.

Over the past year staff members at head office in Glasgow and at the dealerships around the country also raised over £50,000 for causes such as Children in Need, Christmas gift drops for underprivileged families, Edinburgh's Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Perth and Kinross Association of Voluntary Service (PKAVS) and a sponsored sleep-out in aid of homeless charities.

In addition to introducing an industry first in the form of Sunday closing Peter Vardy Ltd has also invested heavily in training and incentives for its workforce, implementing a unique Apprentice-style scheme to put new recruits through their paces and launching its biggest ever internal reward programme - which will see staff from across the business win money-can't-buy experiences throughout 2011.

While continuing to focus on expanding its motor retail operations over the next few years, chief executive Peter Vardy has set the business ambitious goals of becoming the number one car company for customer and colleague satisfaction.

Peter Vardy, Chief Executive of Peter Vardy Ltd, said:
"Despite difficult trading environment we continue to grow the business, improve what we do as a team and improve what we offer our customers. I am proud of the contribution from so many new colleagues who have quickly fitted in and helped to build our company culture. We've taken some amazing action with local charities, and I believe that colleague giving has improved engagement and enjoyment. We've been a top 100 company three years in a row now and I'm looking forward with great confidence, so would any business leader surrounded by such passionate, ambitious and talented colleagues around me."
