Hamish the Scottish Mini on the Beaujolais Run 2010
In November 2010 Hamish the Scottish MINI drove 1000 miles as he took on the challenge of the famous Beaujolais Run in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
The prestigious annual event kicked off on November 16 at the world famous Brands Hatch racing circuit in Kent, with former Formula One world champion Nigel Mansell OBE taking on the starter’s duties. Mansell also took to the track with competitors and patron of the Beaujolais Run, John Surtees OBE, for a lap of the circuit before teams headed to France. Check out Hamish with Nigel Mansell, John Surtees and Jonathan Palmer at the start of the run.

The Beaujolais Run first started in 1972 and has been running ever since. The Beaujolais Run has evolved since then to become a navigational shoot out over a cryptic checkpoint course in deepest Burgundy. Teams compete for the honour of achieving P1 on the grid the following year (highest fundraising team) and P2, the team that covers the shortest distance on the navigational trial.

Although the Run is fun, it is also done to raise money for nominated charities, and this year money is being raised for two great causes – The Henry Surtees Foundation and The Richard Burns Foundation. You can sponsor Hamish and your money will go towards these charities. Click here to go to our Just Giving site - http://www.justgiving.com/scottishmini
Hamish, the most famous Mini in Scotland, attracted lots of new fans during the trip and details of his adventures on the Beaujolais Run can be found on his blog at www.scottishmini.com as well as www.facebook.com/ScottishMINI and www.twitter.com/ScottishMINI.
Rob Bellinger, Beaujolais Run organiser, said, "Hamish made a great impression on those on the 'Run and spectators alike, raising smiles of disbelief and admiration wherever he went. The Beaujolais Run is delighted to have received such great support from Peter Vardy Edinburgh and we look forward to what they can think up for 2011."
Hamish’s owner, Peter Vardy, said, “Hamish once again proved immensely popular on his travels, and he really made people sit up and take notice as he made his way through England and France on the Beaujolais Run. He generates enthusiasm and fun, which is synonymous with MINI, and people always enjoy seeing him wherever he goes. The Beaujolais Run is a fantastic event that raises huge amounts of money for charity every year, and that’s always something we are keen to help with in any way we can at Peter Vardy Ltd.”
If you would like to meet Hamish in person or have a photo taken with him simply call Peter Vardy’s Edinburgh showroom and ask if he is available.
