Peter Vardy drive to help abused kids
A Motherwell car dealership has set itself the ambitious target of raising £40,000 for children who have been rescued from abusive people traffickers. Airbles Road based Peter Vardy is notching up money for Hagar International which urgently needs funds for its Community Learning Centre in Cambodia.
The dealership have organised a number of events including a sponsored Kayak around Arran on Monday, July 27, when kayaking novices Roddy McAllister and Stuart McGilvary will attempt to complete their mission in just two days and a charity car wash on Saturday, July 25, which will see the Motherwell FC team bring their cars along for a clean.
The grand finale of the fundraising events will be an X Factor night at the Motherwell Miners Welfare Club on Saturday, September 5. Tickets to the event cost £10.
Peter Vardy said: “When I first visited Cambodia in 2003 I became aware of the terrible poverty and suffering that many of its people, and in particular the children, must endure. “We began supporting Hagar International and its fantastic work last year, and that money is already making a huge difference to people’s lives. “It’s great to see the response from all of the company’s employees in Edinburgh and all of our other dealerships around the country to this challenge, and we hope that the public get behind us and support our efforts to raise a further £40,000 for this important work.”
The dealerships are urging the public to get involved to help them raise as much as possible.
